Limitations of Doula Services:
As your Doula, I am committed to supporting you and your support person to make informed decisions regarding care for you and your baby. I will NOT make decisions for you nor directly interfere with your healthcare providers on your behalf. My role as your Doula is to provide holistic, non-medicalized care focused on emotional, educational and physical support, including hands-on comfort measures, during labor and birth. I do NOT perform any clinical tasks such as monitoring fetal heart tones, blood pressure, or checking dilation by vaginal exam while at home in early labor. These tasks are outside of my scope of practice and ethical standards. If a Midwife or Doctor are not present during your birth, I will NOT take the place of such medical profession. It is my responsibility to always remain in the role of a Doula no matter the circumstances. It ismy duty to notify authorities in case of an emergency.
Spontaneous Birth:
What happens if you give birth before your Doula arrives? Your Doula will arrive withinthree hours of the call indicating support is needed. If you give birth within the travelwindow, your Doula will stay for the initial postpartum and client will be given 2 extrapostpartum visits.
Inclement Weather:
When weather conditions become dangerous for both client and Doula, service aresubject to change. If weather causes Doula to miss birth, additional services will be given once conditions are safe. Postpartum visits will expire after three months. Doula will NOT travel during dangerous weather conditions for prenatal, births, or postpartum. It is encouraged to have an alternative plan if support is needed. Inquire about ourVirtual Doula Services.
Travel and Back-up:
Inductions and Cesareans:
In case you are being induced or cesarean, as your Doula, I will continue to provide support.
+ Inductions: Inductions can last up to 3 days. As your Doula, I will be present at your side (as allowed by hospital and/or doctor policies) if you have made progress. Please call to inform Doula when you check-in to the hospital and provide ANY updates on your progress. If no progress has been made, Doula will be present on at the hospital on day, if applicable to follow-up with you on your well-being. If any changes have been made overnight, Doula will only be present when you decide and will be there to support you until baby is born.
+ Cesarean (C-Section): For any reason the induction has not progressed and a surgical birth (c-section) is needed, as your Doula, I will continue to provide support during the surgery (as allowed by hospital and/or doctor policies). After surgery, I will meet you in the recovery/postpartum room to ensure you and baby are supported, as well as assist with initial breastfeeding.
+ Scheduled Cesarean (C-Section): I will visit you a day before the surgery to help assist you in preparing your hospital bag, and other self-care needs. On the day of your surgery, I will be there to assist you in the recovery/postpartum room up to 3 hours after delivery to assist with emotional support and providing additional postpartum support as needed (as allowed by hospital and/or doctor policies).
Postpartum support will take place at your home up to 2 weeks following the birth for light housekeeping, newborn care, review of birth and other additional needs that you require.
Refunds:
No refunds unless otherwise stated. Doula may use discretion in emergency situations. If Doula misses a birth at no fault to the Doula, a refund will NOT be given, however additional support will be offered. Client will NOT receive a discount for late bookings or for unused services within the package. The packages offered is NOT to be separated or discounted in any way.
You (Client) are responsible for:
1. Keeping your Doula posted on how you are doing and updating Doula on ANY significant developments regarding your pregnancy. 2. Calling your Doula if you suspect that you are in early labor (If it is in the middle of the night, and you are still able to sleep between contractions/birthwaves, then you do not need to call, but Doula would need to be notified as early as 7:00am the next morning) The more advanced notice your Doula has of your impending need, the better prepared your Doula can be to support you and be there 100% for you.
